About Us

Advanced Integrated Systems was founded in 1987 by Douglas McA. Halsall, after a successful career lasting 18 years with NCR where he served as Chairman and Managing Director for the last ten years.  During this time, NCR was responsible for many firsts:

  • First fully computerized reservation and guest accounting system in the hotel sector in the English-speaking Caribbean – Half Moon, Wyndham, Pegasus

  • First ‘modern’ computer system in the Bank of Jamaica;

  • First ATM in Jamaica and Cayman;

  • First truly interactive application in:

  • Government Expenditure and Budgetary Accounting

  • General Insurance Companies

  • Introduction of mainframe computing into:

  •  Jamaica National Building Society

  • National Housing Trust

  • Credit Union League

This culture was transferred to AIS, which was founded as a solutions-driven company committed to hardware and software integration, hence the motto “We Put the Pieces Together”.

In early 1997, in the face of declining revenue,  AIS took the decision to re-engineer itself and develop a unique space in the aspect of information technology in which it had significant expertise - transaction processing, and the spin-off services related thereto. The intention was to create an on-going stream of revenue from services, as opposed to relying on hardware or software product sales. Such a process required significant investment. The endorsement and support of AIS' joint venture partners (who eventually became Health Adjudication Systems Ltd.), made possible the creation of Provider Access System (PAS), as well as other service products currently under development in credit and debit card processing, the implementation of smart card/e-purse applications, and initiatives in networking and communications. Health Adjudication Systems Ltd. has a 50% ownership in the intellectual property created by the development of these service products, and consequently it derives a proportionate share in the revenues attributable to that area of AIS' business.
