STARTING a technology-based business can sometimes seem like a daunting task — between finding capital, securing permits and finding the right staff many entrepreneurs get frustrated and often decide to throw in the towel.
But Douglas Halsall, chief executive officer of Advanced Integrated Systems (AIS), made the decision to venture into the computerised systems over three decades ago and hasn't looked back since.
Like many other entrepreneurs he said, "It was a process, it didn't take place overnight."

AIS new e-commerce platform could excite '5 in 4'

Leading IT solutions provider Advanced Integrated Systems (AIS) is optimistic that its new comprehensive e-commerce platform, Q-Mall, could open up the Caribbean for Jamaica's small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs).

According to AIS, Q-Mall is the first comprehensive e-commerce platform specifically geared towards Jamaican and Caribbean vendors to provide worldwide reach.

NCB is happy to share Quisk via Visa model

The National Commercial Bank (NCB) indicated yesterday that the use of the Quisk mobile money platform by other companies will not impact its plans to sell the product as digital money available through its network.

Implemented in 2010 in Jamaica by Advanced Integrated Systems (AIS) – Quisk — to date, is at various stages of development by at least four other companies, AIS disclosed in mid-November.
